Mildred Grace McGrane - Baxter

Funeral services for Mildred Grace McGrane will be Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at the Congregational United Church of Christ, in Baxter; at 2 pm. Visitation will be from 12:30-2 pm prior to the funeral at the church. Burial will follow the funeral at Restland Cemetery in Baxter. An informal visitation, without the family present, will take place Monday evening from 5-7 pm at the Fredregill Family Funeral Home in Baxter.

She was born on March 1, 1911, in Adrian, Missouri, to George and Susie (Swartz) Taylor. When she was a small child the family moved to rural Baxter where she attended area country schools and developed a passion for reading. Mildred married Norvel Koon and of that union three children were born. After the unexpected passing of Norvel, she later united in marriage with Louis McGrane. They had one child together and the family resided on a farm near Baxter. Mildred was a member of the Congregation United Church of Christ in Baxter.

Those left to honor the life of Mildred include her daughters, Kathy (Dwight) Fisher of Baxter, Shirley (Keith) Williams of Clear Lake; one son, Dean (Mary) Koon of Des Moines; one daughter in law, Sammie Koon of Texas; eight grandchildren; four great- grandchildren; three great great-grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews, and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, son Dale Koon, and three brothers Jay, Leon, and Freddie Taylor.

Fredregill Family Funeral Home has been entrusted the care of Mildred and her family.
