My thoughts and prayers are with Ginny's family and good friends. She will be missed by many. I had the pleasure of working with Ginny through the Cyber Corps program at Iowa State. Ginny's optimism and sense of humor lightened every challenge. She cared deeply for and about others. Her dedication to both students and faculty was obvious by the way she was willing to do what she could to help in every situation. If Ginny didn't have the answer, she knew how to find it. A phone call with Ginny always brightened my day. May her family and good friends find comfort in the many precious memories shared with this dear person.

Ginny was a very caring and compassionate person. She was the one who convinced me to pick up my second major in Computer Engineering and always made a point to ask me how I was doing every time I saw her. She undoubtedly helped me get through a very hard couple of years for me in graduate school and was the glue that held our group of SFS students together. I am very sad that she is gone, but happy that she is no longer suffering. I will truly miss her.

Ginny and I spent the last 3 years with a special morning routine. I noticed instantly when she didn’t show up. The last few years she’s been the driving force pushing me to finish my PhD. I will make her proud and finish strong. We also worked together to help Cyber Corps students through their degree. Ginny was a important person in my daily life and graduate school experience. She will be missed.

Some comments on the slack channel for ISU CyberCorps alumni and current students:

'Lets' remember how amazing she was and how she helped us through so many things....she was amazing!!!'
'She saved me from all sorts of trouble.'
'Ginny always had time for people even when she was busy. And if I become half as good as she was at dealing with people, I will be happy with my communication skills.'
'She would even hunt you down after if she saw you looking in while she was in a meeting. Always made sure to follow up and make sure you were heard.'
'Also - if I'm half as good a pancake maker I know I'll always at least have a job doing that
:P she was a Mickey pancake pro'
'I will miss our talks in her office'

In one way or another, I worked with Ginny for 17 years at ISU. She was always such a wonderful co-worker. I'm extremely grateful for the many ways that he saved my bacon over the years. She was a caring advocate for our students and helped thousands of high school and college students make their way into and through our computing programs.
May the family find peace and solace in the many ways that Ginny made others' lives better.

I remember Ginny's smile! It seems that regardless of circumstance Ginny always had a smile, the best smiles being when she talked of family. I wish her family well.
